Avian Ecology & Behavior

Presented by Katie Sieving on Apr 9th @ 7pm

https://us06web.zoom.us/j/82451977306?pwd=L0cPaJB0AagPhyiLVxrmx9iWHqILKF.1

Meet Katie Sieving, an avian enthusiast and guardian of all things feathered at the University of Florida's Wildlife Ecology & Conservation Department. Armed with a B.Sc. in Wildlife, Fish, & Conservation Biology from UC Davis and a Ph.D. in Ecology, Ethology, & Evolution from the University of Illinois, Katie leads research delves into avian ecology and behavior, with a special knack for deciphering the intricate language of our feathered friends, especially the Eastern Tufted Titmouse.

When not decoding titmouse dialects, Katie and her team explore the world of animal information landscapes, or, the behavioral responses of forest dwellers to information shared among animals living in the same community. With a passion for effective conservation science and a philosophy of empowering her students to take the reins, Katie Sieving is not just about studying birds. She's about fledging young scientists with a passion for making a difference in the world, one chirp at a time.  And she enjoys kayaking and paddleboarding too!

Bill Staab forwarded this link of a video tour taken from a Channel 10 helicopter (Aug 31) along the Pinellas/Pasco coast after Idalia. Honeymoon around 17:00, Sunset 21:30, Fred Howard 23:00, Anclote River Park 27:00.
