Just a reminder that if any one is interested, there's a paddle down the weeki wachee April 3. Check the calendar for details. I do hope that there are people viewing this format. Summers on its way and the weather is great.

Wow...Dawn, I am sorry you guys had the problems. Well, no matter how it turned out, a bad day on the water is better than a good day at work.

Dear paddlers, First let me say how profoundly sorry I am about not following up on the info for April 3 paddle down the weeki wachee. I am new to this as this was my first posted paddle. I won't make the mistake again. I don't have a computer at home and rely on my work computer. I was off Thur-Sat of that weekend. I did go down river with one friend and my daughter and children. Everyone else canceled because of the bad weather that hit. I'm really sorry that I missed those who did go. We arrived an hour late because of the bad weather. I agree about the shuttle, but we did go on to Rogers Park. Left there about 3:30. It was a beautiful day, the river was up. Only a few power boats and kayakers. We had lunch and one of the state preserve rest areas that are offically closed. So again to those that went, I'm truly sorry that I missed meeting you. Hope that we can all try this again. I'm up for a new river now..any suggestions.

I agreee with deebo. The trip leader/coordinator should at least update the forum or calendar if there is going to be a trip cancellation. We got no response to direct emails either.

Ummmmm...I drove over from near Orlando & never met anybody from St. Pete or Central Florida. The put-in people at Weeki Wachee are very unfriendly, I offered to pay the exorbitant $28 shuttle fee but because I had no reservation they said there was no room.
I drove down to Rogers Park & launched & paddled upstream, asking the few people I met if they were from St. Pete. None were. I paddled the full 6 miles up to the spring. The amount of boats I met on my journey wouldn't have filled up 1 shuttle trailer so the Weeki Wachee launch people are either liars or just lazy.
Saw many manatees, went swimming many times at beautiful white sand bars, had a fun peaceful day. Although I do think if you post a paddle on a public forum you should maybe.....show up. But anyways, I had a blast...

Is the paddle still on? Are there any plans for a shuttle from the take-out back up to the put-in or do we have to bring two cars?
