From Astor we paddled over the St Johns River to Lake George. Then along the south end of Lake George to Juniper Creek and up and via Little Juniper Creek back to Astor. The weather was kind of chilly but enjoyable for about 17 miles. Enjoy the pictures.

Thanks for the photos, Martien,

However, did everyone make it back (a lot of mean looking scavengers out there).
(see a few additional photos)

Yes it was quite interesting (the scavengers and the beautiful area to paddle). There were hundreds of ducks in Lake George and occasionally we'd hear and see them flushed into the air. Why? Several Bald Eagles were on the hunt, diving down low over the water and putting a big fright into anything with wings. Not to mention the flying dragon (no pictures - too frightening) sitting peacefully on the shoreline! As for the turkey buzzards, many were spreading their wings in the sun, as if they just came out of the water. We all know that doesn't happen. Maybe they were just imitating the real swimming birds, like the two Anhinga click for Anhinga details or the numerous cormorants we saw.
