Hey Everyone! I am looking at changing the November 6th monthly meeting from The IHOP to First Coast Outfitters in Jax Beach. I wanted to get everyone's thoughts on it. This meeting will also have a great training class to go along with it. Let me know!

I would prefer the upcoming first Tuesday of the month meeting to be at IHOP because I need to get a borrowed book back to the librarian. ...IHOP or a place convenient for the librarian.

I don't think a meeting at the beach is a central location for the monthly meeting. I know I haven't attended all the meetings but moving it to the beach will make it even harder for me. You asked for feedback, yes?

my two cents -- IHOP is not ideal but it is thought to be centrally located for at least the regulars that show up at meetings -- the food is sub par IMO but the waitress is great -- the meeting space is adequate for what we do -- we need to consider another meeting place -- I have reservations about having the meeting at FCO: no food (is this necessary anyway?), not centrally located which might cut down on attendance, and this might give the appearance FSKA is part of FCO (this has caused problems in Tampa and other places in the past) -- a one time meeting at FCO for training
purposes IMO would be fine but meetings there on a permanent basis should be avoided -- again, my two cents -- I'll be out of town next meeting

My plan for our monthly meetings are to move them around the area so everyone has a chance to participate that normal wouldn't(i.e. St. Augustine, North Jax, Westside, Southside, Beaches, etc). This meeting is being held at FCO because of the training class that will be associated with our meeting. We are planning on having a well know ACA/BCU instructor present on Kayak Navigation and this would be easiest for him. This class would be free of charge for any FSKA member in good standing. I am also going to offer this event up to other clubs and individuals so they can become familiar with the FSKA.

I think you should hold the Nov meeting on the 15th so I could attend and then we can plan a big paddling trip for the weekend. I'm traveling from Oregon so anywhere in JAX is good for me, as long as Larry is buying dinner.

Unfortunately we can only do our meetings the first Tuesday of the month per the clubs bylaws.

The format will not change. We will have the class first and then review, schedule, discuss trips.

We are going have this meeting as scheduled (First Coast Outfitters). The time will be just a little bit earlier since we have some time constraints. We will meet at 6:30. If you are only interested in attending the meeting part it will start at 8:00. The class is free to all FSKA members in good standing. Anybody who would like to come to the class and is not a FSKA member the cost will be $25 (which will be donated to a charity of the instructors choice). Please come out and join us!

Earl said he'd like to attend the navigation class so he'll be there November 6th unless (of course) you change it back to IHop....then Earl said he'd be at IHop.

Steve---Are you going to be there? We need to return a library book.

Steve---if you're not going to be at the November 6th meeting, what about the event at Black Creek on November 1st? Are we really going to be fined if we don't get the books back to you soon?

We could also drop it by his house. I think he lives in Mandarin.

first I would like to say thanks for the invite to the class at the shop and I plan to be there. I do feel that the folks at IHOP have treated us well and we should continue using them as a meeting place, those folks always treat us well and I think the service is good so don't confuse them giving us some privicy to conduct our meeting with poor service I have been going to the meetings for many years and they have done anything to please members I would like to continue the tridition is anyone giving them notice that we will not be there next month it wouldn't be right to just not show up I also feel that when possible training or special events when possible should be at the IHOP starting early wouldn't be a problem we have had the coast guard come out and give talks on cold water exposure we have had several slide shows
Just my thoughts and if you need help with anything just let me know I will be glad to help

Hopefully Chris thought to cancel the reservation at IHop once he made the decision to move the meeting. If not, GOOD catch Jack! Informing IHop is certainly the polite thing to do.

That will be the problem with moving the meeting to various places...it is more of a hassel to get reservations.

The beaches aren't central so seem a poor choice to me for a Tuesday night meeting.

I didn't like the food at Ihop so I had hoped for a consistent meeting place with good food. BUT I realize that everyone can't be 100% pleased all the time. Glen said he liked the food so maybe I'm just a picky eater.
