Equipment: Paddle Leash

Next Page

Paddle Leash A paddle leash is simply a length of line, similar to a telephone handset cord, that tethers a paddle either to your wrist or kayak. The concept is that if you suddenly exit the kayak, you won't lose your paddle.

Many kayakers don't use paddle leashes as it is possible to become entangled. This could be a bad thing if you are trying to exit the boat while floating upside down. A better solution, and something that you should always have while touring, is a spare paddle.
